Winners of the 2018 South Sydney STEM Cup competition were treated to thrilling Match Day Experience during the NRL Round 13 game between the Rabbitohs and Sharks at ANZ Stadium last month. Blakehurst HS who took the top prize in the school category and the individual student Capologist winners of the maths-based competition participated in the event.
The Match Day Experience included a ticketed suite for the match, behind-the-scenes with the players during the warm-up, honour guard during the player run-on, and meet and greet with South Sydney Capologist and Day of STEM mentor, Peter Legg, during half-time. Individual student winners received Supporter Memberships and a limited edition 2018 Rabbitohs jersey autographed by the entire team.
However, it was passionate Rabbitohs supporter and third place student Capologist, Luke Davis from St. Gregory’s, who took home the ultimate prize. During his conversation with Peter Legg at halftime, Luke managed to negotiate and secure a work experience opportunity at the Rabbitohs as part of his Y10 school requirement!
The South Sydney STEM Cup program is always available as a free resource for all students, schools and teachers in Australia. Details on the 2019 competition and prizes will be announced in the coming months.
