LIVE: South Sydney STEM Cup Competition 2019

The 2019 South Sydney STEM Cup competition is LIVE! Students are now able to submit their South Sydney player lists via the Capologist worksheet (in the field trips tab) to have an opportunity to win fantastic prizes.

Students need to complete the worksheet to be eligible for individual prizes, choosing salaries they believe are closest to the actual salaries while staying under the NRL salary cap. Schools with the highest rate of student participation are eligible to win the school prize.

Due to the retirement of Rabbitohs captain and club stalwart Greg Inglis, the adjusted STEM Cup salary cap for this year’s competition is $8,580,000 as students will not be factoring in Inglis’ 2019 salary. We are also working to include James Roberts in the worksheet, as he recently returned to South Sydney from Brisbane.

“Souths are very excited to be part of the STEM Cup in 2019. We encourage students to increase their maths skills and try their best to balance our team list while minding the league’s salary cap. I look forward to having the top Capologists come and join my team for our work experience program.” Peter Legg, South Sydney

School First Place Prize – 25 tickets (corporate suite) to a South Sydney Rabbitohs home game at ANZ Stadium on 17 August vs Bulldogs. The experience will include a visit with South Sydney Capologist, Peter Legg, and other exciting game-night activities at the stadium.

Student First Place Prize – 2019 home jersey autographed by the team, supporter membership, tickets to the Bulldogs team.

Competition Timeline – 15 April – 15 August 15 2019

Student Work Experience – the top three individual students will also be invited to participate in a week-long work experience program at South Sydney, working with the team’s accounting and membership departments. Luke Davis, last year’s 3rd Place student completed the work experience program at Souths following the competition and had a very memorable experience.

The South Sydney STEM Cup is endorsed by the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers (AAMT) who understand the value of highlighting real-world maths challenges and insights into STEM careers for students. Learn More: https://dayofstem.com.au/SouthSydneySTEM-Cup.html
