Webinar: Cyber Victoria Schools Challenge 2018

Renee Hoareau will introduce the Cyber Victoria Schools Challenge presenting how schools can enrich their STEM curriculum by introducing Cyber. Learn the what, why and how of the Cyber Victoria Schools Challenge to get your school involved including how to win student and teacher prizes. Learn about teacher resources and how teachers can access free online professional learning gaining an international industry certificate in the Fundamentals of Cyber.

Webinar: How to become a Cyber Teacher

Inclusive in the Cyber Victoria Schools Challenge is a professional learning offering for teachers. This session aims to build understanding of Cyber and to integrate this understanding in the delivery of STEM and the Victorian DigiTech curriculum. Teachers will learn about the components of the Cyber Teacher certificate, and discuss best ways to implement interdisciplinary curriculum and project-based learning.

During this workshop, Renee Hoareau will take teachers through the Optus Cyber Security Experience platform and the elements of the Cyber Challenge field trip to enable schools to easily participate in this important call to action by the Victorian Government to inspire students into STEM future careers.

This is a hands-on workshop with lots of time for questions about the Cyber Victoria Schools Challenge, links to the Victorian DigiTech curriculum, interdisciplinary and project-based learning and the challenges of teaching in a ubiquitous STEM enriched world.

Renee will take teachers through the Cyber Teacher professional learning program aimed at building teacher confidence in Cyber. This is a hands-on workshop with lots of time for questions to learn about:

  • Why is Cyber important?
  • What is a Cyber Teacher?
  • How do I get a free scholarship?
  • How do I attain a Cyber Teacher Certificate?
  • How can I apply this new knowledge and skills in project based or an interdisciplinary way?
  • How can I work with students in delivering the Digital Technologies curriculum?

The Cyber Victoria Schools Challenge is an initiative to raise the awareness of Cyber as a learning area for students, teachers and the wider community. Cyber is particularly linked to important STEM skills required for current and future careers.

The Victorian Government is offering free scholarships for teachers to undertake the Cyber Teacher Certificate, an international industry recognised certificate and online adaptive learning course. Teachers will learn about the components of program and discuss best ways to implement interdisciplinary curriculum and project-based learning.
