The past year has been transformative for LifeJourney and the Day of STEM initiative in Australia, engaging students in STEM career exploration with a key focus on the fast paced world of cyber security. In 2018, we took every opportunity to work directly with schools, students and teachers across Australia.

Day of STEM is Full System Go in the Northern Territory

LifeJourney and the Northern Territory Department of Education delivered the first Day of STEM Future Careers in (NT) STEM series in October. The Hon. Minister for Education, Selena Uibo via a video message welcomed the students to the event reinforcing the importance of STEM in their lives and to their future careers in the Territory.

Day of STEM: What’s on in 2018

Day of STEM would like to thank our education and industry partners and participating schools for their support in making 2017 a great year. In 2017, Day of STEM:

  • increased the number of STEM mentors on the platform to 21 via 3 new programs including Women in STEM (click here), Optus Cyber Security Experience (click here) and the South Sydney STEM Cup (click here)
  • engaged with STEM teachers around Australia at education conferences and via professional learning webinars
  • promoted STEM career awareness through our free, online programs to thousands of Australian high-school and tertiary students (program overview here)

Day of STEM Program Overview

Day of STEM is an online immersive experience that empowers students to explore a range of different STEM career paths through videos, interactive Q&A sessions and skill-based experiences. Students:

  • Get to know Australian STEM professionals working in a range of industries 
  • Access their career journeys and learn about their daily duties, prior education and the hard and soft skills needed to succeed in their roles
